The 11th Hour is a new documentary film, created, produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, on the state of the natural environment.  It explores how the world has arrived at this moment - how we live, how we impact the earth's ecosystems, and what we can do to change our course.

With the help of over fifty of the world’s most prominent thinkers and activists, including reformer Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, and Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, “The 11th Hour” documents the grave problems facing the planet’s life systems. Global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans’ habitats are all addressed.

Global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans' habitats are all addressed. The film's premise is that the future of humanity is in jeopardy.

The film proposes potential solutions to these problems by calling for restorative action by the reshaping and rethinking of global human activity through technology, social responsibility and conservation.

The most powerful element of “The 11th Hour” however is not a portrait of a planet in crisis, but an offering of hope and solutions. We can change our environmentally destructive ways, learn to live with nature and move together to a sustainable future. The film ends with a call for restorative action through reshaping human activity.

Opening in New York and Los Angeles, then across the United States in the weeks that follow, and then around the world.
